Financial Analyst, FP&A (Hybrid)

Topco Associates is currently seeking a Financial Analyst for the Finance team. This position will be a hybrid role, with the successful candidate conducting work in either our Quincy or Itasca office as well as virtually.

This position is responsible for financial support of the Fresh, Indirect Spend (ISP), and Fuel programs at Topco, including but not limited to the annual budgeting process, monthly financial forecasting, and the delivery of ad-hoc reporting. The successful individual will partner with the business to help ensure financial reporting is understood and provide insights and recommendations to aid in decision making. This role is also a super user of the SAP Business Intelligence (BI) and BPC (Budgeting and Forecasting) reporting tools and provides both financial and analytical support to the organization.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Core Financial Planning & Analysis Activities

• Provide monthly analysis and reporting on Fresh, ISP, and Fuel sales, expenses, and profitability, including variances and key drivers
• Develop annual sales, expense, and margin plans for key areas of responsibility in partnership with key internal stakeholders
• Serve as a financial liaison for assigned functional and program leaders
• Calculate, forecast, and analyze variances of dividends for Fresh, ISP, and Fuel areas of responsibility
• Maintain and update budget and forecast data within SAP BPC environment

Cost Savings Calculation and Reporting

• Monitor, track, and review Cost Savings projects for areas of responsibility
• Guide sourcing teams on regarding Cost Savings policy and how to enter projects into SAP

Data Analysis and Reporting

• Work with technical resources to enhance existing reports and develop new reports
• Become the expert resource for Topco BI and BPC

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION CRITERIA:

• Accurate, complete, and consistent financial information reported in a timely basis, in accordance with established requirements and deadlines
• Meaningful analysis of corporate sales, cost, volume, and financial information used to manage the business
• Continuous assessment and development of departmental reports, dashboards, analysis, and processes
• Simplify and automate manual tasks related to reporting and analysis
• Improve processes related to the Company’s budgeting, forecasting, and expense planning
• Accurate preparation and timely distribution of reports and information with minimal supervision
• Delivery of support to management on special projects as needed
• Annual review of Cost Savings completed for year-end close

Education:

• Four-year college degree preferred in Economics, Finance, or Accounting

Technical skills:

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to recognize trends
• Ability to synthesize, cleanse, and analyze data from multiple sources
• Knowledge and understanding of relational databases (structure, tables, joins, queries), especially SQL
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products including Excel, Access, and Powerpoint
• Tableau, Salesforce, Power BI, SAP, SAP BW, SAP BI, SAP Business Objects, SAP Hana, or SAP BPC experience a plus
• Understanding of current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Previous experience:

• 1-3 years of professional experience

• Travel approximately 10% (once per month) to office in Quincy, Massachusetts (if located in Itasca) or to office in Itasca, Illinois (if located in Quincy)
