Overview

Topco Associates is currently seeking a Data Governance Lead for the Master Data Team in Elk Grove Village, IL. This position will be a hybrid role with the successful candidate conducting work in our Elk Grove Village office and virtually.  

 

The Data Governance Lead role will be responsible for advancement of data governance and management best practices. This role will manage day to day needs of the business data governance and data quality program.

This role must be passionate about executing collaborative, agile and modern data governance program at an enterprise level. This role will help build and implement policies, procedures, and standards for the three critical domains (Material, Customer and Supplier). They will be responsible for identifying data quality opportunities and drives compliance with data governance and quality initiatives.

This lead will ensure data governance opportunities are identified and addressed throughout the project management lifecycle. They will proactively create and support a culture where data development is treated as a core competency across process, data, and technology disciplines. They will align discipline best practices to continuously improve and protect the data asset.

This role is responsible for providing data domain expertise executing on all facets of the data governance discipline and lifecycle to implement strategic initiatives and provide hands-on support, partnering with data management, business stakeholder, and IT teams. The Data Governance Lead will use technical tools and best practices to analyze and measure enterprise data quality and develop action plans to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of our enterprise data with the necessary standards.  In addition, this role will assist in driving data governance policies and support compliance with external data standards such as GS1.

 

Responsibilities

  • Represent data governance team, coordinate, and facilitate discussions to build and maintain data standards, procedures, and policies across all critical master data domains.
  • Participates in or leads data activities in support of strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Participates in day-to-day governance activities on data domains and subdomains levels.
  • Provides mentorship and formal training within or outside of team to increase data literacy.
  • Performs impact analysis and coordinates the execution of change processes.
  • Creates data governance and quality metrics and dashboard.
  • Identifies data quality opportunities and drives adherence with data governance and quality initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with the functional, divisional, and regional teams.
  • Represents Data Governance team in business and technology projects, ensuring data standards are followed or amended as needed.
  • Collaborates with IT and business teams serving as central point of contact to address data management and data governance needs by domain.
  • Analyze problems, diagnoses issues, and finds root cause, and then either create a fix or partner with the team to collaboratively design a solution.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience, required

Technical Skills:

  • Strong Master Data experience in the areas of Material, Customer and Vendor domains within different ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent organizational skills and focus on attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in an environment where multiple technology infrastructures are utilized.
  • Strong knowledge of database analysis, and the ability to help structure data for the use in reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to work in a mainframe environment through a strong understanding of data flows to achieve reporting and analytical results.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Previous Experience:

  • Minimum of five year’s relevant experience in a CPG company or similar supply chain operations.
  • Experience in building standards and policies, maintaining data dictionaries
  • Experience in coordinating and facilitating discussions with cross functional teams
  • Experience in performing root cause analysis on data quality issues.
