    Topco Associates is currently seeking a Business Analyst - Demand for the Center Store Operations team in Elk Grove Village, IL.


    The Demand Business Analyst is responsible for generation of forecasts and exception plans that support Topco’s business needs. This is done by leveraging sophisticated planning and ERP systems while working collaboratively with various functions and levels within the organization in the tasks, transactions, analysis and planning required to support the Topco membership business model.  The demand forecast plan will support historical execution, defined or unexpected changes at the product, brand, program or member levels.  This role interfaces with Members, Category, Member Services, and Logistics teams to create plans that support new product launches, product and member transitions that meet or exceed company KPIs and financial goals. 


    • This role is the Single Point of Contact for the Programs they support for the DP&R team
    • Topco uses defined Planning System(s) as the primary source(s) for all demand analysis and actions.
      • Ability to work with large complex data sets, derive meaning from and create action plans on the basis of this data
      • Ability to work and maintain sophisticated complex planning systems leveraging statistical forecast algorithms
      • Manage baseline and promotional forecasts for at the aggregated item and individual member level including post event / post season analysis.
      • Analyze customer level sales history and quantify key demand drivers
      • Review product sales history utilizing category & member intelligence to develop item/supplier forecasts within JDA and manage commitment or allocation based requirements outside of JDA
      • Review impact of replenishment plans and the ability to support the item forecasts and provide action based direction to replenishment when required to support the demand plan
    • Ensures system is properly set-up and maintained to allow Topco-specific data flows and interfaces to function as designed with outputs that support expected results that meet or exceed company established KPIs and financial goals.
      • Ensures systems are set up is accurately configured to support new, existing and transitional items or members
      • Monitors core system data flows to ensure they are functioning correctly and within normal operating parameters
      • Adjusts item and supplier parameters to depict current business trends, expectations and exceptions
    • Facilitates appropriate communications between department, internal or external partners and leadership.
      • Manage seasonal, promotion and new member activities to ensure JDA and SAP set-ups are accurate.
      • Follows-up with category, member services, member development related to compliance issues in a timely fashion to appropriate functional partner providing corrective action recommendations to minimize impact of exceptions.
      • Provides follow-ups are succinct, accurate with recommendations to ensure business priorities are met.
    • Facilitate meetings regularly between business partners (Category, Logistics, DP&R, and Member Services) to support business needs.
      • Participates in daily, weekly and monthly departmental meetings
      • Creates templates to support meetings and business needs on an as needed basis
      • Provides feedback to appropriate resource to ensure issues within and beyond span of control are addressed in a fashion that maximizes business needs, KPIs and financial objectives.
      • Provides on-going and ad hoc support to all business partners as needed.


    • Four year college degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Economics, Engineering or related area preferred, or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
    • Problem Solving or Project Management Certification: Agile, Lean, Lean 6 Sigma, PMP, Design Thinking or other relevant experience preferred

    Technical skills:

    • Requires in-depth knowledge of sophisticated Planning and ERP systems (JDA, SAP preferred).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Power Point, Excel or Access).
    • Requires in-depth knowledge of Supply Chain Planning function (Demand, Fulfillment & Replenishment).


    Previous experience:

    • 2-4 years of experience in developing and utilizing complex systems (JDA & SAP).
    • Experience in a multi-channel, Grocery or Retail environment that leverages promotional activities and has multiple locations that span the USA market.
    • Problem solving skills with Project Management Certification: Agile, Lean, Lean 6 Sigma, PMP, Design Thinking or other relevant experience preferred.

    • Travel:  minimum to no travel expected
