  • Overview

    Topco Associates is currently seeking a Category Director for the Center Store Dairy team in Elk Grove Village, IL.


    The Category Director develops and implements strategic sales and marketing plans for category programs and brands, as well as develops relationships with new members and strengthen relationships with existing members.


    Leadership and Team Development

    • Set strategy and vision for team to achieve business and financial objectives
    • Communicate effectively to team to keep engagement and connectivity to the final results
    • Support team through coaching / mentoring / prioritization
    • Hold individual team members accountable for peformance
    • Assist in problem solving and ideation process to infuse personal experience into team
    • Grow the overall capabilities and skillset of the team to increase total capacity to create value

    Financial Performance / Business Operations

    • Responsible for managing P/L
    • Build sales budget by member, by category, by period
    • Maintain and update forecast of sales performance vs. budget
    • Consistently meet deadlines along with a high level of responsiveness to our owners and management

    Customer Intimacy

    • Manage, support, and enhance relationships with existing, new, and prospective members
    • Own the primary face to our membership on behalf of the Dairy Department as the go to source for opportunities or issues
    • Responsible for overall member satisfaction with the Dairy Department performance
    • Develop and sustain personal relationship with key member decision makers to protect our business

    Strategic Sourcing

    • Develop and execute overall sourcing strategy and tactical plan for department
    • Foster strategic partnerships and strong relationships with our supplier network
    • Take an active role in the industry as a thought leader and champion for our organization

    Business Development

    • Identify and roadmap sales growth objectives within business
    • Facilitate the opportunities to close voids and develop member awareness of our programs and capabilities
    • Communicate Topco’s value proposition to stakeholders to support the achievement of revenue growth


    All other duties as assigned



    • Bachelor’s degree, Master's degree preferred

     Previous Experience:


    • 10 - 12 years experience in food CPG/manufacturing/retail/wholesale
    • Experience in a management position
    • Dairy or commodities experience preferred
