    Topco Associates is currently seeking a Category Development Manager for the National Brands team in Elk Grove Village, IL.


    The Category Development Manager’s main responsibility will be to develop actionable insights and business growth strategies; providing selling and performance management content to assist the National Brands Team.


    The position will work closely with CPG manufacturers and Member-owners to understand the retail and competitive landscape:

    • Champion insights and solutions inter and intra Program, and assist in executing strategies in concert with the team.
    • Develop insights based strategies and tactics to better leverage current growth platforms and create new ones.


    • Champion the development of actionable/sellable insights leveraging available information; including syndicated data, panel data, loyalty card data, and market research.
    • Lead the development of program platform growth initiatives, and develop insights based selling materials to support sell-in with the Members and CPG manufacturers. 
    • Identify specific opportunities with our current CPG partners for expansion as well as provide insights to onboard new manufacturers.
    • Lead the communication of actionable insights within the team through sales materials, reporting, and other applicable vehicles.
    • Support team in CPG and Member business development calls by serving as the category expert, delivering insights and recommendations to support CPG and Member initiatives.
    • Develop program business building platforms, back-up analytics, and other tools to provide a consistent message and methodology to Program Sales to sell-in program initiatives.


    Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA preferred



    Previous Experience:

    • 6+ years of experience in the CPG industry required.
    • 3+ years in a Category Management, with experience in Advisory role
    • 3+ years in Customer facing experience, preferably in Direct Selling role
    • IRI (Unify) syndicated data experience is required

    Other qualifications:

    • A strong knowledge of Category Management practices and tools 
    • Experience analyzing multiple large data sets 
    • Understanding of using analysis and insights to solve business objectives
    • Experience integrating consumer insights into sales presentations
    • Understanding of different CPG, Retailer and Wholesaler strategies
    • Negotiate and influence across multiple functions and levels within organization
    • Taking complex information and simplifying for use in the marketplace
    • Entrepreneurial spirit…ability to create new tools to meet business needs
